Fit for birth: Just like athletes and marathoners, and maybe moreso, pregnancy preparation takes focus and dedication to keep your eye on the prize….the prize usually being a healthy and safe labor and delivery.
Here are a few tips to get ready for the marathon…that is, BIRTH! Staying fit during your preparation for birth will keep you happy, balanced and healthy.
Watch what you eat
You can still giving in to cravings and enjoying food! You don’t need anyone’s permission to indulge once in a while of course. Pregnancy is hard enough. All you have to do is keep your healthy foods intake MUCH higher than the yummy craving foods.
When you do feel like you are eating way too much not-so-healthy foods, take a few steps back and figure out what it is REALLY that your body is craving. Healthy fats? Calcium? Iron? Folates? These are the usual suspects. So just Google foods high in those vitamins and double the intake…say a healthy juice or a big fat smoothie!

Go to prenatal yoga classes! At least once or twice to get someone to correct your positions and posture. I’m all for following videos too of course! There are not prenatal yoga teachers in my town, so YouTube is my savior.
I say to at least get your postures corrected because you surely do not want to do more harm than good! That’s the thing about videos, no on will be there to move you around to find a better position, or correct if when you are wayyyy off.
Spinning Babies Daily Activities
Ahhh I CANNOT recommend the Spinning Babies tips enough. You truly truly HAVE to checkout their website ANd find a class near you, like NOW.
Firstly, Spinning Babies is not only about turning breech babies…its about SO much more. Creating space for baby to turn into an ideal position is one of THE MOST important factors in having a smooth labor.
So go checkout the daily activities on the website. HERE YOU GO!
Find a doula in your area who is experienced/trained in rebozo uses for pregnancy. You will be so pleased you did. There are a few things you will need someone to do for you, but there quite a few things you can do with the rebozo on your own.
Mostly for comfort and also for help during labor and delivery, the rebozo techniques are amazing! During pregnancy the rebozo can help you relax the ligaments and muscles that tighten throughout the day. And in labor, a doula or your birth partner can help comfort you and help baby ease earth-side a bit smoother.
