Ever since we started blogging, and thinking what to name the site, we wonder of Christ words about treasures in heaven:
Matthew 6:19-21 (KJV)
19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
A teacher once put it this way, “Believers living a Christian life have the hope of the return, the resurrection out from among the dead, and eternal rewards to motivate them and provide focus for their endeavors. Our love for God and desire to please our Lord encourages us to labor for him out of love and to store our treasure in heaven, rather than to build temporal fortunes.”
John 4:34
King James Version (KJV)
34 Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.
So should our will be that of our Father. If we claim to believe, love, and trust God, then we must be surrendering our will to Him and praying for Oneness as Jesus did in John 17.
Every act is either for God’s glory or for our selfishness. We must ask ourselves then, when confronted with unrighteous acts,
how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?Genesis 39:9
This has been crossing my mind lately since I’m a stay-at-home mom and not really contributing financially to the family income. So I ask, is my household labor bringing glory to God? Am I storing treasures in heaven in caring for baby Jasmin 24/7 the way I’m doing? An even greater question crossing my mind is my labor to spread the word about the healing oils of the Bible such as the power of essential oils, am I bringing glory to God?
Of course it’s a personal question I must ask God himself. I’m just posing the question to others on what you think it means to store treasure in heaven.
One thing I’m sure of is God’s faithfulness. I’m positive the “labor” of Jasmin’s birth was for His glory indeed! If you haven’t read her birth story I truly encourage you to do so. It was the most intense hour of my life and proof that God is real in my life.
Psalm 40:8
King James Version (KJV)
8 I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.
