Hey everyone,
So I just wanted to get into the topic of moving and moving tips. Whether it be to a new apartment, house, State or even country.
The first time I moved, that I remember, was from my house in The Crossings, Miami Florida. I had lived in that house for about 13 years and then my parents divorced. Unfortunately, after a while my mom could no longer afford it and, to avoid foreclosure, she sold it.
It was probably one the most heart breaking experiences that I have gone through.
It was a house where I had literally grown up. Everything happened in that house, there were so many memories, good and bad.
To the point where if that house went on the market I would buy it back.
After that, my mom and I moved to an apartment 1/1, near the Kendall Baptist hospital. It was a beautiful apartment, I loved it, even though it only had one room, but it was still great.
I think I lived there with my mom for like 3 years and then my husband moved in. My mom actually was the one that told us to live there because it was really tough trying to find something that my husband and I could afford. We lived there about 3 months before I had the crazy idea to move to Nashville.
That was one of the craziest things ever.
We literally packed up and moved within a month or two of saying that we would move there. It was crazy and really dumb. We had to sell everything because there was no way we could afford to move our stuff over there. I mean it would have probably been better but still not possible.
When we moved there we lived in apartment, 1/1, literally 590 sq ft which is super tiny, like I could jump from the living room to my bed. We lived there 3 months and had to move because we found maggots in the carpet!!!
The nastiest thing ever! But management took it like if it was a little ant or spider, literally, they told me that! I was like no way, I’m out, because I am not risking my dogs or me and my husband getting sick.
We then moved to and another apartment!
It was a lot cheaper, 2/1, a lot bigger too, and we actually really liked this apartment. It was big and spacious. And we lived there for like 9 months. But then I had a miscarriage and it was no longer a happy place for me, I got depressed, and I knew that we had to go.
We moved back to Miami in February 2017 and lived in Homestead for a year. Recently we decided to move to Kendall because, honestly, we were so far in Homestead, and Jose worked and studied here in the Kendall area. So it made no sense to live so far. Now we are living here in Kendall.
All in all I have moved 5 times in the last 6 year that crazy!!!!
The point of this blog is to tell you that I know a thing or two about moving and could definitely give you some tips.
Tip # 1
If you are planning to move out of state, make sure you plan finances at least a year in advance. To save money for a rental, if you do decide to move with furniture, but also just to have back up money if something unexpected happens
Tip # 2
Do your research on where you are going to move. Don’t pick the first place that you love, because that’s the mistake I made with my apartment in Nashville and look: maggots in the carpet. Sometimes the more you look you will find everything you ever wanted and within your budget.
Tip #3
Make sure the State you are moving is a place you will actually like!
Tip # 4
Visit the State you would like to move for at least a week. Not just vacationing but going to see the malls, and your future job, things around where you might love, and see if you actually like it.
Tip # 5
NEVER just pick up and leave- follow these moving tips.
I’m sure more people have more tips, and I’m sure I have more too, just can’t think of any at the moment.
