My Detox story
Recently on IG stories I shared about something a bit personal that many women can relate to, yep, our monthly cycle.
I share a graphic another IGer had posted. It mentioned ways our body detoxes naturally and ways we can help our body detox. Another slide showed ways we can know our body needs a detox. This is where I mentioned a few ways I knew my body needed to detox years ago, one of them being about a heavy/irregular cycle.
Many of you replied to my stories simply that you can relate and others asked about what I did differently?
I asked you all in a poll if you would like my response about my detox in an IGTV, blog post or Stories and most replied IGTV…per usual I am adding the IGTV here as well for those who aren’t on IG!

In this Part 1
I briefly cover a bit about my past so you can see why and how the change came about. I felt like this is needed so when we go further into it you can know where I am coming from. In the next videos I will get more detailed about steps I took, products I used, and other changes!
A bit more info on the state of my monthly cycle
So this whole conversation started in my IG stories. Go to my Instagram and find the Detox highlight for the full background.
In my teens my cycle was very irregular, heavy, with lots of clots and cramps. It was horrible, I hated it miserably. The only answer I knew of back then was to get in birth control pills, so I begged my parents to please take me to get them.
I remember always wondering what’s in those things, and whatever it is, can’t be too good for you long term. One day I went in for a sonogram because of cysts in my ovaries, hmmm can’t be too good. And I felt lumps in my armpits now and then. I can’t remember which Gyno told me or if I had convinced myself my body was incapable of having children. But that’s what I believed for a long time.
The first days of my periods were always the roughest, I would just lay in bed with a heating pad on my back of belly and sleep as much as I could. I had no routine, no drinks, nothing. Just put a tampon or pad and deal with it.
I pray I can raise my daughters with more self awareness, pampering and wisdom around our cycles.
